Protecting Venues & Events with LabelLock®.

When it comes to securing high profile venues and public events, the challenge isn’t just around keeping unauthorised people out, it is more often about maintaining confidence that every room or area remains secure, after it has been searched and cleared.

Whether it’s a Premier League football match, a major concert, political conference, race meeting, royal or VIP visit, or any other event where public safety is paramount; security teams invest countless hours conducting systematic sweeps of rooms, corridors, plant rooms, hospitality suites, media facilities and restricted access areas long before the doors open.

But what happens after the search is complete?

This is where LabelLock® Tamper Evident Security Labels can make a genuine operational difference.

Once a room has been searched, a uniquely numbered LabelLock® security label can be quickly placed across the door or access point, providing a simple but highly effective method of preserving the integrity of a searched room or restricted area.

‘That’s great… …in a perfect world’ you might say, ‘but cleaning staff may need access. Maintenance engineers may need to fix a fault. Catering teams may need to restock the fridge. Broadcast crews may need to retrieve equipment!’

Every legitimate entry introduces another layer of complexity and potential risk for the security operation.

Built in security features

Once again LabelLock® provides the answer through the strength and breadth of its multiple security design features such as its sub-surface numbering, which makes it impossible to forge as; once the label is applied; no one can physically alter / replicate or update the number shown on that label.

Then there is the fact that every LabelLock® label, and every 150mm of LabelLock® tape, has a completely unique number, making it impossible to obtain an identical replacement label, even from the manufacturer. LabelLock® has been available for almost 20 years and no number has ever been repeated, and nor will it. Meaning that security teams can have 100% confidence that every LabelLock® seal can be uniquely identified.

Creating a security audit trail

So if we look back at the real life scenarios above, security teams can easily utilise these built in features to maintain site security.

Imagine the operational workflow.

  • The Head of Security maintains a record of the unique LabelLock® serial number assigned to each secured room, area, utility, etc.
  • A maintenance engineer then requires access to a room to fix something before guests arrive
  • They can notify Security Control via radio or text before going in, relaying the number on the existing label, which confirms the room’s security integrity.
  • The existing No Residue LabelLock® label is then activated as they enter and can then be cleanly removed.
  • Once their work is completed, a new LabelLock® security label, issued from a controlled supply carried by authorised personnel, is then applied as they leave.
  • They radio or text Security Control with the new serial number, which is immediately updated within the central security log.
  • The room is once again secure

At any point before or during the event, supervisors can simply inspect the seal on the door and instantly confirm that it matches the recorded number. If it doesn’t, or if the seal has been disturbed without authorisation, an investigation can begin immediately.

This straightforward process creates a clear audit trail while significantly reducing uncertainty during busy security operations.

Extra Layers of Security

Beyond room security, LabelLock® tamper evident labels and tape can also help protect a wide range of vulnerable assets and access points throughout an event venue, including:

  • Electrical switch rooms and control cabinets
  • CCTV and communications equipment
  • IT and networking cabinets
  • Fire alarm control panels
  • First aid and medical supply stores
  • Hospitality and cash handling areas
  • Fuel and generator enclosures
  • Broadcast compounds and technical equipment
  • Plant rooms and maintenance areas
  • Emergency exit doors that should remain closed until required
  • Sensitive document storage
  • Temporary storage cases and secure containers

For security managers, it’s often the simplest controls that deliver the greatest operational value.

Highly visible

A visible tamper evident seal acts as both a deterrent and an immediate indicator that something has changed. When combined with a robust data management process and uniquely identifiable numbering, it provides accountability, without adding unnecessary complexity to an already demanding operation.

Large scale events require thousands of decisions to be made every hour. Anything that allows security personnel to quickly verify whether a secure area has remained untouched, helps reduce uncertainty, improve communication and maintain the integrity of the security plan.

Sometimes, security isn’t about adding more technology. It’s about making it immediately obvious when something has changed.
